Since I gave up coffee last year, I have become a Tea -holic
My favourite is Darjeeling but I also like Typhoo infusions.Everyday I take lemon tea with honey.
Among flavoured teas:
Rose, Earl grey, Vanilla & apple
I take tea with milk, no sugar.

It's the carbonique gaz that helps you digest, I don't think a flat coke would be better....I started drinking beer during supper because I always had stomac aches, and it worked. I don't tolerate fast food, and I think it's mostly because I don't drink coke and others do so they digest it better while I don't

I voted water. Everyone I know says water doesn't taste good, but I think it's so refreshing...how can a gatorade with lots of sugar be more refreshing than pure water Shocked it's f***ing water, what's more refreshing than this????

I love coffee too, I try to find tea that I like to make a change with coffee but I don't really like it yet.

And I loooooove red wine

It doesn't matter what you drink, none of you are coming to the big
astrologers' dinner party unless you've got Neptune on the Angles
< 11 degrees.

my husband had an aunt who lived to almost 100 who drank coke everyday. he thinks their 11 secret herbs and spices helps longetivity...

"Original formula

Published versions say it contains sugar, caramel color, caffeine, phosphoric acid, coca extract, kola nut extract, lime extract, vanilla and glycerin. Alleged syrup recipes vary greatly. The basic “cola” taste from Coca-Cola and competing cola drinks comes mainly from vanilla and cinnamon; distinctive tastes among various brands are the result of trace flavorings such as orange, lime and lemon and spices such as nutmeg.[1]
To this day, Coca-Cola uses a United States license to purify the coca leaf for medicinal use.[2]
Because cocaine is naturally present in coca leaves, today's Coca-Cola uses "spent", or treated, coca leaves, those that have been through a cocaine extraction process, to flavor the beverage. The coca leaves are imported from countries like Peru and Bolivia, and they are treated by chemical company Stepan, which then sells the de-cocainized residue to Coca-Cola.[3] Some contend that this process cannot extract all of the cocaine alkaloids at a molecular level, and so the drink still contains trace amounts of the stimulant.[1][4] The Coca-Cola Company currently refuses to comment on the continued presence of coca leaf in Coca-Cola.[5][6]
A court case in Antalya, Turkey mentioned cochineal dye in Coca-Cola, but the company denies it currently uses the dye.[7][8]"

Coca Cola has tasted different since about the 1970's. It's not as addictive
tasting now.

I remember the first time I had it - I was hooked immediately as a 12 year
old at a school sports day, but fortunately never made a habit of drinking it
at that age, even though I heaps of money for buying it if I wanted, from
selling newspapers.

Here is another piece of Triva for all you. Traditonally Santa Clause was featured wearing green and it wasn't till Coca Cola changed him to wearing red for their ads he ever wore red and it caught on so well the rest is history.

its because water does not have any taste!!!! its good when your real thirsty. i have to force myself to drink it. lets be honest it has no taste.

they have gatorade drinks like powerade with no sugar.

i dont like sugary drinks. now i dont eat or drink any sugar other then in my coffee.

i use to like coca cola but even that is too sweet for me.

i like lemonade or ice tea instead of soda.

i like tea and coffee. but in the morning i need my coffee.

fast food is just plain nasty. you cant get a good burger anywhere anymore!!!!!!

some old guy told me burgers use to taste better years ago and tomatos use to have way more taste. its ashame the quality of everything is going down even food.

I disagree water has its own taste although rather bland compared to most other drinks. Also, not to get off the subject but I was thinking about Santa Clause's hypothetical birth chart (the mythical figure not the historical saint nick) and I was thinking their chart would be quite similar to Ray's with the aries rising, sun and mars in Sag but with a sag venus, jupiter, and sag moon. Also, "making a list , checking it twice" if that doesn't scream scorpio mercury I don't know what does.

I voted for milk. Rice milk or cocoanut milk in the carton = absolutely delicious and goes excellent with ethnic foods.

is your water brown by any chance? maybe that's why it has a little taste ha ha.

thats the chemicals in the water that gives it taste. pure water has no taste.

if your really really thirsty water is refreshing but if your hydrated its kinda boring.

Only two voted Coffee? Crying or Very sad

Juice. Grapefruit, Mango (pure or 80% mango - not this 10% mango and 90% orange rubbish) Orange..whatever.

Test: go jogging and get out of breath, gasping for air (run around for five minutes) then go in and sample the drinks stated. Juice wins every time for Me.

No I drink purified water and it certainly has a taste just thinner then most other drinks. If water had no taste it would be the same tate sensation as one gets from breathing in air which, it doesn't.

I don't like bottled water though, that tastes strange, but Evian is good.
I like filtred water, I use Brita and it's nice. I even use it for my dog's water. The water from the sink is not cold enough and no that good. May be if you try filtring your water you'll find it good.

Buy bio tomatos, may be you'll see a difference. Sometimes it's better, but sometimes you just don't know that's it's supposed tp taste like this and don't like the taste. Bio carrots are very good when you can find good ones, because sometimes they are not frech anymore because they stay a long time in the supermarket. You have to grow them yourself to have good vegetables

I don't really put sugar in my coffee anymore. But milk yes. I drink mostly cappuccino now anyways, and I don't see why I'd put sugar in it, it's perfect as it is served. Rolling Eyes

the brita water filtration does not work or at least it does not get rid of sodium flouride a poison in the water supplies of most countries. it is banned in germany and in japan . hitler used it on the jews and some became mentally retarded and very docile. the amount in your water wont make you mentally retarded but its enough to do damage to our bodies.

there is a book on the dangerousness of sodium flouride called the flouride deception.

a women was getting flouride posioned by her water and she needed to buy a very expensive filtration system at least over 800 dollars!! its a whole system that hooks up to your house. it might even cost in the thousands but it works.

you may think your water is being filtered but only a filtration system hooked up to water pipes will work.

i put sugar in my coffee becuase i dont drink cappicinos as of late but i drink regular coffee which i only put i teaspoon in the coffee.

cappicinos dont need sugar but regular american coffee does.

hmm bio tomatoes i wonder where i can get them

It's a reference to an ambition I've had for years - to hold a dinner party for
a dozen astrologers who have Neptune on the Angles - and NO their partners
would not be invited because they would only waste valuable talking time.

I wasn't suggesting they make better astrologers, but merely that they would
be the only one's I'd be interested in listening to - which is saying a lot for a
technically inclined astrologer and researcher.

Over on the Astrodienst forum we had quite a long discussion about this dinner
party, and even the butler (a real one) had Neptune on one of his angles.

there is a book on the dangerousness of sodium flouride called the flouride deception.

a women was getting flouride posioned by her water and she needed to buy a very expensive filtration system at least over 800 dollars!! its a whole system that hooks up to your house. it might even cost in the thousands but it works.

you may think your water is being filtered but only a filtration system hooked up to water pipes will work.

i put sugar in my coffee becuase i dont drink cappicinos as of late but i drink regular coffee which i only put i teaspoon in the coffee.

cappicinos dont need sugar but regular american coffee does.

hmm bio tomatoes i wonder where i can get them

So you don't drink water because you don't trust it, but what do you make your coffee with????

no i dont drink as much water as i should becuase it does not have any taste like lemonade or something.

ya the flouride is in water bottles too except for one kind of water.

i forget the name but its the only water in water bottles that dont have flouride in it,

you can order it online.

ya boiling the water does not get rid of the flouride either it acctually makes it more concentrated.

acctually you absorb more flouride in the shower through your skin!!!

listen to this aquarius about the flouridiation in your water!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bqW0Hu3yGY

the only way around it is a expensive filter.

after 5 years of drinking like all of us our iq's are lowered by as much as 10 points!!!

Peach flavored Snapple made from both black and green tea, yet bottled and stored for consumption for a later date. Fresh, cool and crisp after taste which has the power to take you on a short journey away from the squabbles of the real world and perhaps to an island of your own creation...

There's this Italian soda that comes in just about any flavor you could think of here and it's homemade. I used to get the swiss chocolate one and it was "the best" drink I ever had. Not terribly sweet either and made with club soda and 1/2 and 1/2 which is a natural curative.

To anwer the question of this thread, "Just about any thing and everything, I pretty much love them all and that's no lie. Although there is no exuse for bad coffee and over half the coffee out there is cr@p same with beer. Being introduced to real coffee is like being introduced to real astrology there is no going back, same goes for actual high quality beer. You can fool yourself something which, tastes like dirt or hair spray (which, is what a lot of coffee tastes like) tastes good but your only fooling yourself.

Yes, good wine, most certainly... good beer (which for me is always a microbrew, and dark... mmmm) and freshly roasted coffee beans, ground right before brewing... it's true, once you find the good stuff nothing else will do.

Razz
For some reason I am not... I slept good last night. I think it's partly addiction and years of drinking 5 + cups of coffee every single morning giving a sort of immunity.
Once in awhile if I haven't had caffeine in a few days (which is rare but does happen), a cup of green tea or coffee will give me a migraine.

Me, too. I've given up meat, tobacco, week long partying and black leather. I simply will not give up coffee! If there is a Heaven and I thought I might have half a chance of getting there, I'd have to inquire about their coffee choices before entry. Half and half, or better yet, heavy whipping cream, is a must, too.

but like all drugs you build up a tollerance to them & can use more without toxic affects manifesting, sleeplessness forinstance, & with the tollerance kicking the drug becomes ever more difficult.

It all depends on how many cups you have a day, like I need at least one cup a day and I heard it is good for you given that you drink in moderation.

gary has been puching tea now for a long time as a heart disease preventor, been there & I doubt it. my grandmother drank black tea with lemon & died of devestating strokes, took a long time too, but she did like nearly raw hamberger.
today gary was talking about fructose, the corn sweeteners in fizzy drinks, including coca cola, says it causes kydney stones in children & pancreatic tumors in adults. I always thought it was the phosphoratic acid (& now sodium)

i voted tea...there is an infinite variety and i like sampling new ones from different parts of the world, different herbs and spices, etc. also it can have a stimulating or calming effect depending on the ingredients, it is cooling in hot weather, warming in cool weather...all in all it is the ideal drink. Smile

i like: ceylon tea, darjeeling tea, turkish tea, nepali/indian milky tea (chai), ginger/lemon tea for colds, english breakfast and earl gray, lapsang souchong (smoke tea), black tea with mint (moroccan/egyptian tea), refreshing green tea and white tea (i think it's just a younger leaf used in white tea), apple tea with a little cinnamon (i heat up organic apple juice, tea bags don't have the same effect!), rosehip tea.................... the list goes on and on

And it's vegan! That's terrific, will have to try it.

Yes, good wine, most certainly... good beer (which for me is always a microbrew, and dark... mmmm) and freshly roasted coffee beans, ground right before brewing... it's true, once you find the good stuff nothing else will do.

You guys are makin' me want a cup of coffee!, but it's too late: 9:30 PM
Sad
Should I just have one?...
I feel guilty bc I can't quit. It seems I can quit anything else in my diet cold turkey except coffee...

When I drink coffee late in the evening, like after dinner with friend or family, it makes me very sleepy. May be you actually should drink one.

According to the abstract of this study, maybe you should have two- but at lunch time!

Differential Effects of Coffee on the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Quote:
"BACKGROUND: Coffee consumption has been associated with a lower risk of diabetes, but little is known about the mechanisms responsible for this association, especially related to the time when coffee is consumed...

...This inverse association was restricted to coffee consumed at lunchtime...

...this inverse association was observed for both regular and decaffeinated coffee and for filtered and black coffee, with no effect of sweetening. Total caffeine intake was also associated with a statistically significantly lower risk of diabetes...

...CONCLUSIONS: Our data support an inverse association between coffee consumption and diabetes and suggest that the time of drinking coffee plays a distinct role in glucose metabolism.

And this article from WebMD:

Coffee: The New Health Food?

Quote:
Want a drug that could lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer? That could lift your mood and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities?

If it sounds too good to be true, think again...

..."Overall, the research shows that coffee is far more healthful than it is harmful," says Tomas DePaulis, PhD, research scientist at Vanderbilt University's Institute for Coffee Studies, which conducts its own medical research and tracks coffee studies from around the world. "For most people, very little bad comes from drinking it, but a lot of good."...

It's a really interesting article. Even heavy smokers and drinkers benefit somewhat from the action of coffee, which seems to disrupt some of the damage caused from the excessive drinking and smoking! that must mean for the rest of us, coffee is indeed a magical elixer from the gods. How do we know it was not coffee that fueled the famed Fountain of Youth? Smile

Today I am drinking one of my favorites The Human Bean- which also goes to show you that delicious, affordable can also be had with a good conscience, due to the "Farm Family Direct" policy.

i voted tea...there is an infinite variety and i like sampling new ones from different parts of the world, different herbs and spices, etc. also it can have a stimulating or calming effect depending on the ingredients, it is cooling in hot weather, warming in cool weather...all in all it is the ideal drink. Smile

i like: ceylon tea, darjeeling tea, turkish tea, nepali/indian milky tea (chai), ginger/lemon tea for colds, english breakfast and earl gray, lapsang souchong (smoke tea), black tea with mint (moroccan/egyptian tea), refreshing green tea and white tea (i think it's just a younger leaf used in white tea), apple tea with a little cinnamon (i heat up organic apple juice, tea bags don't have the same effect!), rosehip tea.................... the list goes on and on

Gee wee, we are a lot alike sometimes!... o.O
I also put a cup of apple juice in the microwave sometimes. It's tastier than coffee, but a little too sweet.

Oh gawd... I don't juice anymore bc the machine is too hard to clean or I'm lazy or both, but it's a good thing I recently discovered what I think is the best brand of juice on the market and that's Tree Top. OMG their punch is amazing and it's all 100% juice. It tastes hearty too. My breakfast was a glass of their apple juice and a box of their punch and that's all I needed for breakfast that day.

Never seizes to amaze me what vegan chefs can do! There's even a recipe for alfredo sauce from that site... o.O
Geetbali would probably like the rainbow cake; she's a cake fan.

That Human Bean looks like they got the recipe down to a science. A lot of brewing companies perfect their drinks like that from the initial sip to the aftertaste. I appreciate technicalities like that. Some people don't care and just gulp it down.
I had a beer a few nights ago that was perfected like that. I said to my husband, "They perfected the h#ll out of this!" Shocked
He told me that if someone didn't like it, the guy could get fired...

I was just thinking about the coffee and cigarette pair the other day. That explains why smokers love coffee, they sense it cancels the damage out...

Believe me I did! Wink Having my first cup of the morning now...

abigail,

I've been seeing caffeine free green tea in stores lately. Something about caffeine free green tea seems like an oxymoron. Isn't that greenish electric feeling what people like about green tea?
I might try it one day...

yeah, white tea is the very riniest leaves , newly grown, gary says the best, very little cafeine in it, or de cafinated, that doesn't make sence to me, I tried green tea for a travel drink the last time we went west, but what hapens when it runs out? not easy to find on the road, & mega trauma occurred. to long a story to relate tonight.
