What is the order of importance of consideration in Vedic astrology: is the Nakshatra most important? The Lagna sign? The sun's sign? _________________ August 17, 1974, 11:22am EST

the lord of the asc -- the ruler of the asc -- is always the most important planet in vedic astrology. I suppose in western astrology as well -- we do look at the ruler of the asc in western astrology. Whether we consider it to be the most important planet in the western birth chart is another matter but in vedic astrology it is considered to be.
in vedic astrology, the moon is more important than the sun b/c it is a lunar based system.
also in vedic astrology, the most advanced planet in degree is considered to be very important.
the nakshatras are important in order to get a deeper sense of the planet's energy, etc.

Dear Cynthia,
For Vedic astrology regarding this matter, I would advice you to study Brihat Parashar Hora Shastra (several English translations exist, if you do not know Sanskrit, Hindi or other vernacular).
Once you get to the chapter on Sudarshan Kundali, the question under discussion will find its answer

are you implying that the lord of the asc (lagna) -- the ruler of the asc -- is not the most important planet in the vedic chart? b/c it is. _________________ *astrology*can*solve*any*mystery* |
