I know virtually nothing about art, but those examples look too good to be
displayed like that together only in an astrology forum. Also, I was confused
for a few seconds when I first looked - thinking "Why is the photo of Lick's
kittens included with the paintings".

So is my brother... although with his Sun & Mars in Mutable, he couldn't sit still for me. It was difficult.

TY. They're both ladies' men, but with different personalities. Sunny is the more sensual one and Tucker uses his charm to obtain food and housing.

art from life appears more alive, even when it's a copy of art from life, especially important for live things. difficult because, esp with landscapes, & we'd like to see some of those plains & wide skies, you're capturing a moment.

Can anyone help me find the male painter from Minneapolis who painted locomotives in realism? I'm OBSESSED and need to find them, but I can't.
I'd ask the 80 yr old artist in town who swore I was a Pisces, but she is sick and I don't want to bother her.
She has sold a few of his locomotives in her gallery years and years ago.

^You may be right. I'll ask her when she's feeling better.

I know this is goofy, but here's what I did for my dad's bday tomorrow:

[see cheeseburger^]

(in no way do I condone meat eating. this is made for a Taurus male glutton out of love. in fact, have you ever tried a cheeseburger without meat? i have and discovered what we like about it is the vegetables and condiments. nothing at all (if very little) to do with the meat. try it if you don't believe me). I know, right?!
They're just a couple of nice longhaired Maine Coons I googled and probably not Gemini, but thought she'd like them!

Stay tuned for the ducks I'm painting. They should be finished tomorrow. Also, Sunny and Tucker have custom frames and matting, which I'll update later. As did the pink roses and the tulips, but they are sold and couldn't take a photo b/c they were no longer mine.

Okay here's "Duck Crossing" I made for an upcoming contest in case you're wondering WTH...
In the very back of the dock are two baby mallards.

[see above]

Tried to get a photo of the two cats in their frames (Sunny with thick gold frame for the Leo he is and Tucker in a honey wood frame to match hair), but the glass glare was picking up drinks on my table and the windows.

Thanks, abigail. =}
Sunny and Tucker are in windows downtown for sale. I'm grateful for the opportunity, but a bit irked because the watercolors could fade in the Sun. I asked fellow artists and they said they won't fade unless left in Sun over 2 months.
Up next is Marie Antoinette with shadows of starving peasants holding heads on pikes and a tall guillotine in the background.
Sorry, but I'm taking my time with this one because I want to capture the glow of her porcelain skin that other oil artists captured in 18th Century.

water colors won't fade, the ones in tubes or cakes. analines are the liquid dyes in bottles. they all fade. some watercolors fade, but you can find out whuch & not use them. the lakes, for instance, are beautiful but will fade.

Wow what talent! Your paintings look as if they are alive. The "Pink Roses" look as if they'd quiver if you blew gently on them. Absolutely Beautiful.

...and ditto about the meat thing. We stopped eating nearly all meat products about a year ago. (thank you, Food Inc!) Once in the bluest of moons we might buy organic, free range, grass fed, ect, but for the most part meat isn't missed at all. It's easy if you tend to eat ethnic anyway.
Seafood... a different story. But I plan to balance it out when I die- I'll have the family dump my body at sea so the fish can eat me for once. Smile

you do water colors as I do, as cartoons for oils, the conventional way to do watrercolors is with a lot of water, & using the white paper as whites. all analines are also watercolors, but with them you can't get any pastiche, which both of us like, that's the word for heavier paint.

Just to show you, here's the pink daisies I'm working on. The background usually goes first and of course, I have to put some shading on it, so it's believable.

One pallet is in a petite white case with a snap lid, the colors are in blocks the shape of ice cubes. I use 300 lb cold press paper only.

With "Marie Antoinette" Cowfish takes her game to a whole new level.
Notice how Marie is oblivious to the crowd of rebel rousers and the gullotine in the background? Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!

The duck one is probly her most gorgeous but this is on a whole other level. Ray is right don't sell this one cheap!!!!!!

Once in awhile I'll have more than one painting going on at the same time. I'm thinking of starting a new one soon of the Tsavo Maneaters. They were maneless, but I will put manes on them to look more attractive.

http://www.fieldmuseum.org/exhibits/exhibit_sites/tsavo/maneaters.html

but tomorrow, yardsale with dad. Yeah, I'm baking brownies. What else...

I like the symbolism of how the figures in the background are dark (making you focus on Marie at first) symbolizing their omnious threat. I also like (for me at least) how it almost looks like people at a party or social gathering until you finally see the gullotine in the background. This what true art is all about. Also, if this wasn't intentional it actually makes it more brilliant.

Also, the figures being dark might further symbolize marie's being oblivious to omnious threat in the background.

I meant any and all of my paintings, Juice, but to pick apart one is okay too. Also, critical comments are helpful.

Hi Cowfish

It is very beautiful pictures you're doing.
I am impressed by your cats.

I've seen that many astrology interested also is painting, or perform some form of art. Also I paint, it is oilpaints. Painting is an almost meditative experience.

That's interesting about artists and astro. Do you have an online place to show your work? You could make a thread like abigail and mine.
Like a true artist, I am not happy with a lot of these paintings!

I plan on doing some fish, probably two going in different directions. Bought 3 pieces of 140 lb cold press. Could not afford the 300 lb today...

yes. very nice. it looks like one I made years ago of a flower we grew, a watercolor with a blue background. it sort of survived the fire but is too badly scorched to do anything but copy it which I probably will never get around tp

These have some of your best use of color. Could you make more pictures for each sign of the zodiac?

Ok so. Sometimes I get lazy and take a break where I feel like I just cannot do it, but where it's going to be how I make a living, I must learn to train such feelings out of me...

here's my brushes:

(the blue one was an expensive gift from an anonymous patron - for "flat wash" )

my current projects (one has been flat washed with a faint blue)

Kokopelli sold. He wants a bigger one next...
Also working on tropical fish. It was going to be Pisces, but it's not "spiritual" enough; it's more "fun" looking.

Hi abigail! Tucker faded a little bit in that window this Summer, at least I believe so. Each of us artists get two new paintings to hang in a little while.

Ty... Smile my husband named these and the first one is a well known saying. He didn't say what the second one meant, but it is a Cardinal bird.

My dad said last night when they were done, "Hey, those are gooood!"
My husband says, "I did those."

Laughing I guess he figures if he did them, he might as well name them too! Laughing

These go up for sale tomorrow in a diner. I've got 1/2 a dozen up for sale in another restaurant AND if anyone wants the link to my online shoppe, PM me.

I had chosen the sunset (pastel rainbow sky with billowy clouds), but I'm doing the very sparkling water one now that you mention it, with the abundnance of green velvety forestry. Never done anything like it before...
Whta's nice about it, it doesn't need drawn first.

I wonder if people know to scroll down to see my new pieces... I'll move them all up to the first post later.

"Tsavo Maneaters"

I sent this lions pic to to someone for comments.

The comments don't mean a whole lot to me, but here is the reply below:
==========

* The sun shades resonate with sand = harmony.

* Sun looks misty, warm.

* Trees - different shades = diversity.

* Lions look in motion.

* Hair looks fierce in the wind.

* Water separates plans = crossing 2 symbolic worlds.

* Pink vs blue = strong contrast, focal point, yin yang.

* Bricks - warm human element vs wild greens, but the line of the train,
poles should be more 3 dimensional.

* Locomotive balances Leos.

* Orange eyes - 'demonification' (without black...).

* Red on sand - blood in front of them, 'crime in the sun'.

* The lions closer to viewer than train = nature prevails, man is weaker.

* Wavy grass - 'trembles' to their force.

* Shades of green air have depth.

* Water needs some detail.

* White mouths - innocence, focal point.

I sent this lions pic to to someone for comments.

The comments don't mean a whole lot to me, but here is the reply below:
==========

* The sun shades resonate with sand = harmony.

* Sun looks misty, warm.

* Trees - different shades = diversity.

* Lions look in motion.

* Locomotive balances Leos.

* Water needs some detail.

* White mouths - innocence, focal point.

Shocked

Um, thank-you!...
I didn't know you had connections like this. Any time you'd like to do this again, PM me to get the original size(s).

What I painted; the "Cosmos" were actually Cone Flowers. A Virgo corrected me on that. Sometimes I have no idea what I'm painting...

Ok, as long as we retain the right to argue.

Seriously though, even though I know virtually nothing about art myself,
I'm sure I know what people will buy, and they will be queuing up to buy
at least half of your paintings if they remain typical of what you've shown
here. I didn't ask my contact about sales potential, but I don't need to.

Looks like we're gonna have 2 legends from the one forum. First Teo
creating happiness and openness in an astrology forum, and now you
on the way to being a prominent artist.
