Inspired by another thread, I want to ask how you define naivety?
Although I see naivety to be confidence, a belief in the goodness of man. Influences from the planets Venus and Neptune, as both planets symbolize love, both human and spiritual.
Clearly disappointment occurs more easily when people are naive, but the ideal must be to accept human error and omissions and retain naivety and confidence.
Naivety, I think, is a fine human characteristic.
I realize that some equate naivety with stupidity, which I think is a big mistake. What do you think? |

Being Naive doesn't necessarily mean stupid and being overly suspicious of others is arguably just as if not more stupid. _________________ Astrologers make mistakes. The biggest is replacing intuition with astrology. |

My dictionary defines 'naive' as
| Quote: | | 1.Having native or unaffected simplicity; ingenuous; artless; frank. 2. Having a lack of knowledge, judgment, or experience; especially, lacking sophistication in judging the motives of others; credulous. |
I think the first definition describes a very positive quality; there's far too much "sophistication" in the world. Having "native or unaffected simplicity" is such a good quality! OTOH, having knowledge, judgment, and experience, and being able to judge the motives of others, is also a good thing. So I kind of see both sides of it.
I like the way the gospel describes it: "be innocent as doves but wise as serpents." I think that's the balance, right there. _________________ August 17, 1974, 11:22am EST

What is the diff between naivety and gullibility?
The only time when naivete is a bad trait is probably when the person attracts abusive people, but it's important not to blame yourself. There's a lot of insensitive creeps to do that for you if something like that happens. _________________ Astrology is abstract. |

my biker would say about certain people: sophisticated slime.
he once got me to believe an orange male cat was female. when I stopped being gullible to his pronoucements he said I must be slipping. |

You remind me a lot of myself in love. I don't know why that is, fellow artist syndrome?...
Or is it our horoscopes?
